Sip some hot cider* and paint along with us at Kicks, step by step, and we’ll have a great time! Hello, I’m Sara Porter, and I’m your painting instructor for our paint along classes at Kicks. I hope you like the options we have in September! Apple Orchards were always an annual activity for my family when my kids were younger. I hope this painting brings up many happy memories for you as well! I consider this one to be an intermediate level, but as usual, no drawing skills are necessary! See project description below for more details on this painting. Bring your own favorite beverage and snacks if you wish! Ages 16+ please!

Project Description: This is a 12×16 canvas with acrylic paint. We will transfer the outline and paint step by step, beginning with the background and working in layers. There will be times I’ll ask you to mix a couple colors on your plate to create lighter or darker values, but I’m always able to help. I think you’ll enjoy getting that chalky-chalkboard look on the sign. The shadows are important in this one, which is why I consider it to be an intermediate level. Taking the time to get those shadows and highlights in those apples in the basket are what make this painting really pop and make those apples look delicious enough to eat!
