SUMMARY:Paint the Northern Lights in Water Mixable Oil Paint
DESCRIPTION:Many Minnesotans saw the Northern Lights this past November\, and some captured beautiful photos of the reds and greens. Why not try your hand at painting them? If you’ve never tried water-mixable oil\, you’re in for a real treat!  “Water-Mixable Oil” sounds like an oxymoron! This paint offers the benefits of oil paint with the easy clean up of soap and water instead of paint thinner. While acrylic paint dries quickly\, limiting the paint’s ability to blend smoothly\, this paint remains wet like traditional oil paint\, allowing for beautiful blending that oil painters love. We take advantage of this “open paint time” to create the glowing streaks of color in the sky and snow that looks as soft as a blanket. As usual\, this is a paint and sip style class\, so enjoy a hot beverage on us\, or bring you own favorite beverage or snack. Allow for a full 3 hours\, and prepare to leave with a tacky-wet painting. We recommend hanging your painting on a nail out of reach and just enjoy looking at it while it dries. Drying time varies with humidity levels and paint thickness. Faster than traditional oil paint\, thin layers of this paint can be dry to the touch within hours to a few days\, thicker layers can take several days to a week or more. We paint this on a larger canvas- 16×20.  We feel it is a deserving subject for at least that much! \n“Kick-in” the New Year with us at Kicks! \nThis class is for ages 18+ please! \n$50 \nTicket Policy: \n*No refunds \n*Register in advance! DESCRIPTION:Here’s a fun way to try out watercolor paint! Four ornaments\, with the Christmas message of your choosing.  Watercolor is unique\, in that the water can do most of the work. Templates are ALWAYS used for circles… I mean… who can draw a perfect circle? Not this artist! The script writing on the ornaments can be transferred with transfer paper and then drawn over with metallic marker\, or free-hand it–it’s your choice!  Our instructor\, Sara\, will help you every step of the way. While this is not a difficult class\, we allow for 2 1/2 hours to ensure we have enough time and don’t feel rushed.  (It’s always good to have a little practice painting before we begin our project)  So come on over and fall in love with watercolor painting! This class begins with transferring the leaf outlines with graphite paper\, so no drawing skill necessary! You’ll be able to choose up to 3 leaf shapes and position them on the watercolor paper (9×12) to your liking. This is a great class to relax and enjoy watching watercolor perform for you as only watercolor can. Effects and colors seem to just “happen”. DESCRIPTION:The world of paint brushes can be quite confusing\, especially given the wide range of prices\, and each company using their own numbering system! In this class\, you will learn the basics of the various paint brushes most commonly used– what they are called\, how to load them\, how to paint with them\, and how to care-for/maintain them. This is a 2 hour workshop\, with demonstrations and hands-on experience. Receive one-on-one guidance from our instructor\, Sara Porter. We’ll cover a lot of information\, so you will go home with handouts.  Ages 16+ is required for this class. Bring your own beverage and treats\, or enjoy a coffee or tea on us.
