SUMMARY:Paint the Northern Lights in Water Mixable Oil Paint
DESCRIPTION:Many Minnesotans saw the Northern Lights this past November\, and some captured beautiful photos of the reds and greens. Why not try your hand at painting them? If you’ve never tried water-mixable oil\, you’re in for a real treat!  “Water-Mixable Oil” sounds like an oxymoron! This paint offers the benefits of oil paint with the easy clean up of soap and water instead of paint thinner. While acrylic paint dries quickly\, limiting the paint’s ability to blend smoothly\, this paint remains wet like traditional oil paint\, allowing for beautiful blending that oil painters love. We take advantage of this “open paint time” to create the glowing streaks of color in the sky and snow that looks as soft as a blanket. As usual\, this is a paint and sip style class\, so enjoy a hot beverage on us\, or bring you own favorite beverage or snack. Allow for a full 3 hours\, and prepare to leave with a tacky-wet painting. We recommend hanging your painting on a nail out of reach and just enjoy looking at it while it dries. Drying time varies with humidity levels and paint thickness. Faster than traditional oil paint\, thin layers of this paint can be dry to the touch within hours to a few days\, thicker layers can take several days to a week or more. We paint this on a larger canvas- 16×20.  We feel it is a deserving subject for at least that much! \n“Kick-in” the New Year with us at Kicks! \nThis class is for ages 18+ please! \n$50 \nTicket Policy: \n*No refunds \n*Register in advance! This painting brings countless memories of Minnesota nights by the water.  This painting is much easier to paint than it may appear! Never under-estimate the usefulness of a hair dryer in the art studio– Yes\, we dry layers of paint to achieve the bright reflections on the water and golden moon-lit grasses.  A fan brush is the perfect tool for those wispy grasses\, and a little metallic paint doesn’t hurt either! Sara will help you every step of the way\, so you can have a great time with your friends or just a night out for yourself. This painting is with acrylic paint on a 12×16 canvas.
