SUMMARY:Signboard Workshop: Red Wing Blackbird
DESCRIPTION:Paint your fall signboard before the air cools! Bring your favorite beverage and snacks if you wish\, as we paint our signboards together\, step by step. We provide a template for the bird and the cattail perch\, so no drawing skills are necessary! Our seasonal signboards are a great front door welcome for your home! See our holiday signboards in a smaller\, coordinating board– a Halloween/Thanksgiving design is coming soon! Our signboards are double-sided\, giving the option to return to our studio at another seasonal workshop to paint the other side. See Project Description below for more details! Tickets must be purchased in advance and are limited to 8\, in order to maintain comfortable working space for the signboards. If you have a larger group\, please call us to discuss options.  Note the earlier deadline for these workshops in the ticket policy at the bottom of the page. The boards are propped up off the floor about 2 feet and a stool is provided\, but expect some bending and reaching. There’s usually enough room to lay it across the table if necessary.   IF YOU ARE RETURNING WITH A SIGNBOARD-– typically\, we need time to prep the boards in advance\, but this design requires no prepping. SUMMARY:Loon in Water-Mixable Oil Paint
DESCRIPTION:Paint a loon in water-mixable oil paint. It doesn’t sound possible\, but Winsor and Newton has a line of oil paint that is able to be thinned with water\, yet offers much of the same qualities as oil paint. This paint is easy to use thinned down to get the soft\, blended look so characteristic of oil paint. For more details\, read project description below.   Ages 18+ for this class please! \n$50 \nProject Description: 12×16  stretched canvas    Water Mixable Oil Paint    We will begin our painting with the loon\, water and upper sky with a black under-painting with acrylic. The rest of the painting is done with thinned water-mixable oil paint over the top. With W.M. Oil\, It is surprisingly easy to add the colors and white dots when the loon is already black!\nBecause we are using a thinned-down technique\, it doesn’t take as long to dry as usual. But still plan to leave with a sticky painting. Keep it hanging on a wall out of reach until it is at least dry to the touch. \nTicket Policy: \n*No refunds \n*Sign up in advance! Ticket sales close at 8PM the night before. Last minute inquiries\, call to check on availability. \n*Class minimum: 4 \n*In the event of not reaching the minimum\, class is subject to cancellation. \n*Cancellations by us will result in a credit towards a future class or a refund.

SUMMARY:Majestic Mountains Paint and Sip
DESCRIPTION:Learn how to paint mountains and trees in a similar technique as a certain well-known painter— the one with the hair! Once upon a time\, Sara took the classes as a teenager in the back aisles of a Ben Franklin\, which sparked a love of painting\, and eventually a degree in studio art. This is Sara’s version of painting with his brush and paint knife techniques with acrylic paint\, rather than oil. This is a later-beginner level painting\, but first timers are always welcome. Come paint along with us\, sip your favorite beverage\, munch on some snacks\, and have fun!   Ages 16+ required for this event. \n$45 \nProject Description: 12×16 canvas\, acrylic paint.  We will be using various brushes and other tricks up our sleeve to achieve the look. Plan for 3 hours of painting.

SUMMARY:Paint the Northern Lights in Water Mixable Oil Paint
DESCRIPTION:Many Minnesotans saw the Northern Lights this past November\, and some captured beautiful photos of the reds and greens. Why not try your hand at painting them? If you’ve never tried water-mixable oil\, you’re in for a real treat!  “Water-Mixable Oil” sounds like an oxymoron! This paint offers the benefits of oil paint with the easy clean up of soap and water instead of paint thinner. While acrylic paint dries quickly\, limiting the paint’s ability to blend smoothly\, this paint remains wet like traditional oil paint\, allowing for beautiful blending that oil painters love. We take advantage of this “open paint time” to create the glowing streaks of color in the sky and snow that looks as soft as a blanket. As usual\, this is a paint and sip style class\, so enjoy a hot beverage on us\, or bring you own favorite beverage or snack. Allow for a full 3 hours\, and prepare to leave with a tacky-wet painting. We recommend hanging your painting on a nail out of reach and just enjoy looking at it while it dries. Drying time varies with humidity levels and paint thickness. Faster than traditional oil paint\, thin layers of this paint can be dry to the touch within hours to a few days\, thicker layers can take several days to a week or more. We paint this on a larger canvas- 16×20.  We feel it is a deserving subject for at least that much! \n“Kick-in” the New Year with us at Kicks! \nThis class is for ages 18+ please! \n$50 \nTicket Policy: \n*No refunds \n*Register in advance! Registration closes at 8PM the night before the event. Last minute registrants\, call to check on availability. \n*Class minimum: 4 \n*In the event of not reaching the minimum\, class is subject to cancellation. \n*Cancellations by us will result in a credit towards a future class or a refund.
