SUMMARY:Snowman's Cardinal
DESCRIPTION:This snowman has had better days\, as he helplessly watches this cardinal steal thread from his scarf.  If you never tried painting with a pottery sponge\, you are in for a pleasant surprise! The entire background and body of this snowman is done with a pottery sponge\, resulting in a soft\, fluffy effect. We use transfer paper to apply the outline of the bird\, scarf\, hat and carrot.  You will have the option to put a smile on your snowman instead of the surprised expression\, and you can skip the pulling thread if you wish.  If you do opt for the thread\, we can help you by request– either by painting it for you or offering a brush tip marker in a coordinating color.   To achieve the depth of color in the scarf and bird\, we will be painting with 3 tones of paint\, starting with the darkest tone. Our instructor will guide you\, step by step\, to get the look!  Join us for a fun afternoon and bring home a snowman to add to your collection! We accept all skill levels. SUMMARY:Paint the Northern Lights in Water Mixable Oil Paint
DESCRIPTION:Many Minnesotans saw the Northern Lights this past November\, and some captured beautiful photos of the reds and greens. Why not try your hand at painting them? If you’ve never tried water-mixable oil\, you’re in for a real treat!  “Water-Mixable Oil” sounds like an oxymoron! This paint offers the benefits of oil paint with the easy clean up of soap and water instead of paint thinner. While acrylic paint dries quickly\, limiting the paint’s ability to blend smoothly\, this paint remains wet like traditional oil paint\, allowing for beautiful blending that oil painters love. We take advantage of this “open paint time” to create the glowing streaks of color in the sky and snow that looks as soft as a blanket. As usual\, this is a paint and sip style class\, so enjoy a hot beverage on us\, or bring you own favorite beverage or snack. Allow for a full 3 hours\, and prepare to leave with a tacky-wet painting. We recommend hanging your painting on a nail out of reach and just enjoy looking at it while it dries. Drying time varies with humidity levels and paint thickness. Faster than traditional oil paint\, thin layers of this paint can be dry to the touch within hours to a few days\, thicker layers can take several days to a week or more. DESCRIPTION:The Apple Stand is an intermediate level painting inspired by the many apple orchards in Minnesota we all love. With this being a longer workshop\, we will take a short break halfway through. There will be an outline on the canvas\, so not to worry about drawing skills!   We couldn’t possibly paint this without some cider to sip\, so help yourself to our cider\, hot cocoa\, or coffee\, etc. We welcome our painters to sip and snack while they paint! You can come paint this on a new signboard\, or bring back your spring\, summer\, or winter signboards and paint the other side for a $10 discount. This signboard doesn’t require any prep-work; we begin on the raw\, unfinished wood. Our signboard workshops are 4 hours\, as we like to take our time\, and take a break in the middle as needed. SUMMARY:Watercolor Leaves: Embossing Technique
DESCRIPTION:We will be using the technique of embossing our paper to create the veins in these leaves. Don’t like drawing? This class begins with transferring the leaf outlines with graphite paper\, so no drawing skill necessary! You’ll be able to choose up to 3 leaf shapes and position them on the watercolor paper (9×12) to your liking. This is a great class to relax and enjoy watching watercolor perform for you as only watercolor can. Effects and colors seem to just “happen”. Watch our instructor demonstrate and receive one on one guidance\, step by step. We limit the size of these classes to ensure everyone receives adequate attention as needed.
