DESCRIPTION:The Christmas Truck is back!  This truck has the ability to be painted at your own level! The outline of the truck is provided\, so no drawing skills are required to enjoy this class and leave with a painting you never thought you could do yourself! This is a “paint and sip” style event! We provide coffee\, tea\, cocoa and cider\, or bring your own favorite beverage or snack. Our instructor will guide you step by step\, with the option to keep it simple or add additional details as shown in this sample\, such as the railing on the truck.  We paint with brushes\, sponges and even our own fingers to get the effect. Adding the spattered snow always adds that finishing touch and we joke that it also “hides” a lot of “oopsies!”  Our goal is for our patrons to enjoy an afternoon of fun\, creativity and laughter. How relaxed you are really depends on you! Bring your sense of humor and holiday spirit! This is a great option for an annual team-building event\, a date night\, girls night out\, or a chance to spend an afternoon tapping into your creative side. SUMMARY:Paint the Northern Lights in Water Mixable Oil Paint
DESCRIPTION:Many Minnesotans saw the Northern Lights this past November\, and some captured beautiful photos of the reds and greens. Why not try your hand at painting them? If you’ve never tried water-mixable oil\, you’re in for a real treat!  “Water-Mixable Oil” sounds like an oxymoron! This paint offers the benefits of oil paint with the easy clean up of soap and water instead of paint thinner. While acrylic paint dries quickly\, limiting the paint’s ability to blend smoothly\, this paint remains wet like traditional oil paint\, allowing for beautiful blending that oil painters love. We take advantage of this “open paint time” to create the glowing streaks of color in the sky and snow that looks as soft as a blanket. As usual\, this is a paint and sip style class\, so enjoy a hot beverage on us\, or bring you own favorite beverage or snack. Allow for a full 3 hours\, and prepare to leave with a tacky-wet painting. We recommend hanging your painting on a nail out of reach and just enjoy looking at it while it dries. Drying time varies with humidity levels and paint thickness. Faster than traditional oil paint\, thin layers of this paint can be dry to the touch within hours to a few days\, thicker layers can take several days to a week or more. SUMMARY:Snowman's Cardinal
DESCRIPTION:This snowman has had better days\, as he helplessly watches this cardinal steal thread from his scarf.  If you never tried painting with a pottery sponge\, you are in for a pleasant surprise! The entire background and body of this snowman is done with a pottery sponge\, resulting in a soft\, fluffy effect. We use transfer paper to apply the outline of the bird\, scarf\, hat and carrot.  You will have the option to put a smile on your snowman instead of the surprised expression\, and you can skip the pulling thread if you wish.  If you do opt for the thread\, we can help you by request– either by painting it for you or offering a brush tip marker in a coordinating color.   To achieve the depth of color in the scarf and bird\, we will be painting with 3 tones of paint\, starting with the darkest tone. DESCRIPTION:This year\, during the Loon Festival\, we are going to paint a loon in water-mixable oil paint. It doesn’t sound possible\, but Winsor and Newton has a line of oil paint that is able to be thinned with water\, yet offers much of the same qualities as oil paint. This paint is easy to use thinned down to get the soft\, blended look so characteristic of oil paint. The rest of the painting is done with thinned water-mixable oil paint over the top. With W.M. Oil\, It is surprisingly easy to add the colors and white dots when the loon is already black!\nBecause we are using a thinned-down technique\, it doesn’t take as long to dry as usual. SUMMARY:Watercolor Jellyfish: Paint and Sip
DESCRIPTION:Who says a paint and sip always has to be in acrylic paint? Watercolor can be just as fun! Jellyfish are the perfect\, organic shape to paint– they are literal “blobs.”  There are no drawing skills needed to paint a blob\, and no templates needed.   The secret is water.  Two hours is plenty of time to watch a demonstration and try it yourself a few times before making your own. Come to have fun\, bring your favorite beverage and snacks\, and we’ll have coffee and tea available. This isn’t an intense “class”\, although\, we like those too. This is a fun paint and sip!  If you really want to learn more techniques\, take a look at the workshop the Wednesday night before! NOTE:  If you attended the workshop on the previous Wednesday night\, receive $10 off of this class!  (You are not required to attend the workshop to come to this event\,) All materials are provided! We use student grade paper to practice\, and then will switch to ARCHES professional watercolor paper for your final jellyfish at an 8×10 size.  Your painting will turn out even better on professional grade paper.
