SUMMARY:The Apple Stand
DESCRIPTION:Sip some hot cider* and paint along with us at Kicks\, step by step\, and we’ll have a great time!  Hello\, I’m Sara Porter\, and I’m your painting instructor for our paint along classes at Kicks. I hope you like the options we have in September! Apple Orchards were always an annual activity for my family when my kids were younger. I hope this painting brings up many happy memories for you as well! I consider this one to be an intermediate level\, but as usual\, no drawing skills are necessary! See project description below for more details on this painting. Bring your own favorite beverage and snacks if you wish! Ages 16+ please! \n* non-alcoholic; you are welcome to bring your own wine or hard cider. \n$45 \nProject Description:  This is a 12×16 canvas with acrylic paint. We will transfer the outline and paint step by step\, beginning with the background and working in layers. There will be times I’ll ask you to mix a couple colors on your plate to create lighter or darker values\, but I’m always able to help.  I think you’ll enjoy getting that chalky-chalkboard look on the sign. The shadows are important in this one\, which is why I consider it to be an intermediate level. Taking the time to get those shadows and highlights in those apples in the basket are what make this painting really pop and make those apples look delicious enough to eat! \nTicket Policy: \n*No refunds \n*Sign up in advance! Ticket sales close at 8PM the night before. Last minute inquiries\, call to check on availability. \n*Class minimum: 4 \n*In the event of not reaching the minimum\, class is subject to cancellation. \n*Cancellations by us will result in a credit towards a future class or a refund.

SUMMARY:Loon in Water-Mixable Oil Paint
DESCRIPTION:Paint a loon in water-mixable oil paint. It doesn’t sound possible\, but Winsor and Newton has a line of oil paint that is able to be thinned with water\, yet offers much of the same qualities as oil paint. This paint is easy to use thinned down to get the soft\, blended look so characteristic of oil paint. For more details\, read project description below.   Ages 18+ for this class please! \n$50 \nProject Description: 12×16  stretched canvas    Water Mixable Oil Paint    We will begin our painting with the loon\, water and upper sky with a black under-painting with acrylic. The rest of the painting is done with thinned water-mixable oil paint over the top. With W.M. Oil\, It is surprisingly easy to add the colors and white dots when the loon is already black!\nBecause we are using a thinned-down technique\, it doesn’t take as long to dry as usual. But still plan to leave with a sticky painting. Keep it hanging on a wall out of reach until it is at least dry to the touch.

SUMMARY:Watercolor Jellyfish: Paint and Sip
DESCRIPTION:Who says a paint and sip always has to be in acrylic paint? Watercolor can be just as fun! Jellyfish are the perfect\, organic shape to paint– they are literal “blobs.”  There are no drawing skills needed to paint a blob\, and no templates needed.   The secret is water.  Two hours is plenty of time to watch a demonstration and try it yourself a few times before making your own. Come to have fun\, bring your favorite beverage and snacks\, and we’ll have coffee and tea available. This isn’t an intense “class”\, although\, we like those too. This is a fun paint and sip!  If you really want to learn more techniques\, take a look at the workshop the Wednesday night before! NOTE:  If you attended the workshop on the previous Wednesday night\, receive $10 off of this class!  (You are not required to attend the workshop to come to this event\,) All materials are provided! We use student grade paper to practice\, and then will switch to a higher quality watercolor paper for your final jellyfish at a 9×12 size.  Be sure to sign up in advance!  We limit the size of these classes to be sure everyone can see\, as watercolor is painted flat on the table. Ages 16+ recommended \n$45 \nTicket Policy: \n*No refunds \n*Sign up in advance! Ticket sales close at 8PM the night before. Last minute inquiries\, call to check on availability. \n*Class minimum: 4 \n*In the event of not reaching the minimum\, class is subject to cancellation. \n*Cancellations by us will result in a credit towards a future class or a refund.

SUMMARY:Loon in Water-Mixable Oil Paint and Sip
DESCRIPTION:This year\, during the Loon Festival\, we are going to paint a loon in water-mixable oil paint.

SUMMARY:Majestic Mountains Paint and Sip
DESCRIPTION:Learn how to paint mountains and trees in a similar technique as a certain well-known painter— the one with the hair! Once upon a time\, Sara took the classes as a teenager in the back aisles of a Ben Franklin\, which sparked a love of painting\, and eventually a degree in studio art. This is Sara’s version of painting with his brush and paint knife techniques with acrylic paint\, rather than oil. This is a later-beginner level painting\, but first timers are always welcome. Come paint along with us\, sip your favorite beverage\, munch on some snacks\, and have fun!   Ages 16+ required for this event. \n$45 \nProject Description: 12×16 canvas\, acrylic paint.  We will be using various brushes and other tricks up our sleeve to achieve the look. Plan for 3 hours of painting.
